Why an Apprenticeship?
I joined M. K. Ginder & Sons in October 2025 and began my Level 3 Funeral Arranger apprenticeship in November 2025. I wanted to develop my knowledge while gaining practical experience in the workplace, and the apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to do exactly that.
Since starting my apprenticeship, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience supporting families at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. My role involves arranging funerals, liaising with officiants and crematoria and ensuring every detail is carried out with care and respect.
I found this apprenticeship so beneficial. It’s helped me develop my understanding of the industry as well as my own confidence. I would definitely recommend this apprenticeship to anyone.
The apprenticeship combines practical experience with structured learning, allowing me to apply what I’ve learned directly to my role every day. As a result, I’ve developed my communication, organisation and customer service skills while gaining a much deeper understanding of the funeral profession.
It’s also helped me become more confident when supporting families with empathy, professionalism and compassion.
Benefitting My Business
The support I’ve received from Connect2FuneralServices has enabled me to make a positive contribution to M. K. Ginder & Sons. As my confidence and knowledge have grown, I’ve taken on greater responsibility within my role while continuing to support families with care and respect.
I manage administrative tasks, coordinate funeral arrangements, communicate with families and third parties, and help ensure every service is delivered with professionalism and attention to detail.
We only get one chance to do it right for the family. That’s something I take very seriously.
Working across both the arranging and operational sides of the business has given me a well-rounded understanding of the funeral profession. It’s helped me appreciate how every stage of the funeral journey comes together, while allowing me to support my colleagues and contribute to the compassionate, efficient service our families expect.
My attention to detail, confidence and commitment to providing the highest standard of care continue to grow alongside my knowledge and experience, helping me make a valuable contribution to both the business and the families we support.
The Connect2FuneralServices Difference
Throughout my apprenticeship, I’ve felt fully supported by Connect2FuneralServices, and that support has played an important role in my development.
Connect2FuneralServices has been exceptional, particularly my trainer, Charlotte Ridley, and my in-house mentor, Karen Elbourn. They have always been approachable, supportive and willing to help me do my best.
The flexibility of the apprenticeship has allowed me to tailor my learning to my own development needs, ensuring that everything I learn directly supports my day-to-day responsibilities.
Our discussions have really inspired me to think about my future. I’ve been able to focus on the areas where I want to grow and build my confidence.
This apprenticeship has given me the skills, knowledge and confidence to continue developing my career within the funeral profession. It has reinforced my passion for supporting families, strengthened my confidence in my role, and made me excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
