IT and Change Director Kevin Pyatt started his career as an apprentice 35 years ago.
He joined HIT in August 2022 to lead the organisation through a period of change and oversee its digital transformation programme.
Apprenticeships have always played a big part in Kevin’s life. He started his first apprentice role as a computer systems engineer aged 17, working for British Coal.
“It was a fantastic start to a career,” says Kevin. “I got to work with all the latest technology while getting the training and development to progress in a hi-tech company that recognised the true value of apprenticeships.”
Kevin went on to work in both private and publicly funded organisations in a career that took him to both Europe and America on multi-national projects.
During the last 20 years, he has held various digital transformation and director roles delivering large-scale solutions with a budgetary responsibility of over £20m. Most recently, he has worked with local authorities and UK skills organisations, as well as leadership roles within health, adult social care and justice sectors.
“I joined HIT because I am passionate about the sectors we represent and the value of apprenticeships for learners and employers,” says Kevin.
Kevin loves sea kayaking in the summer and learning to snowboard in the winter. His craziest moment was competing in horse trials in a three-day event with little experience. He’s proud to say he didn’t come last or break any bones.
