About this course

This qualification will explore the crucial elements of the different types of dementia and equip learners with an understanding of the needs of those with dementia.

A new case of dementia arises somewhere in the world every four seconds. Dementia not only affects the individual themselves but can also devastate their family, friends and entire lifestyle.

This course explores the crucial elements of the different types of dementia, giving learners the knowledge to help them to care for someone with dementia and provide an understanding of their needs and behaviour.

Throughout this course, learners will discover how to implement a person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia, including an understanding of how to implement this in the administration of medication to individuals with dementia.

They’ll understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia and the benefits of engaging in activities in social care.

This course is suitable for those working in the care profession, or anyone looking into a career in this field of work. This qualification is also suitable for home carers or anyone who has an interest in learning more about dementia.
