This is the health and social care sector’s professional qualification for individuals who lead social care provision in an adult or a children and young people’s setting, either as managers of the provision or as senior practitioners.
This qualiﬁcation provides the skills and knowledge required to manage, practice and lead others in social care.
You will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills, and this could be within the public, private, voluntary or charitable sectors.
You should be at least 19 years old. It is also recommended that you hold a Level three qualiﬁcation or above in a related area.
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) has been developed by Skills for Care and is the new QCF replacement for the Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management Care Services.
To start an apprenticeship with Connect2Care you have to be aged 16 years or over and must be working in the health and social care sector for at least 30 hours a week. You also need to be a resident in England and not taking part in full-time education.
