About this course
The Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship is for experienced care staff who work alongside registered practitioners.
In their role, they’ll help registered practitioners to deliver healthcare services, and perform both clinical and non-clinical tasks.
Through this apprenticeship your Senior Healthcare Support Worker will be supported to use their knowledge, experience and understanding to take decisions within their area of responsibility. They’ll be accountable for their work and review the effectiveness of their actions.
Your apprentice will be helped to demonstrate best practice, act as a role model, and hone their ability to supervise or guide less experienced staff in your team.
Options within this apprenticeship are adult nursing, maternity, theatre, mental health, children and young people support and allied health profession.
All learners will explore health and wellbeing, obtaining client histories, duty of care including safeguarding, equity and diversity, person-centred care, treatment and support, communication, personal and quality improvement, health, safety and security.
With time and experience, learners may work towards an Assistant Practitioner or Nursing Associate post or apply to become a registered healthcare practitioner.
