About this course

The Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship is for those who work within a care team carrying out routine clinical duties.

This duties can include monitoring blood pressure and temperature, checking on people’s progress, comfort and wellbeing, or assisting with eating, drinking and bathing.

Depending on the care setting, your Healthcare Support Worker will support more senior team members and carry out clinical and non-clinical duties such as record keeping, making beds and tidying up. This apprenticeship helps learners to address straight-forward problems in their day-to-day work, reporting concerns and changes to the appropriate person in a timely manner.

Your apprentice will work with their Training Consultant to understand your setting’s team working and following the relevant standards, policies and protocols. There’s a strong focus on communication, delivering person-centred care and support, and we look at supporting individuals with long-term conditions, frailty and end of life care as well as dementia, cognitive issues and mental health. The key values of care, compassion, honesty and commitment are highlighted.

This is apprenticeship will support assistant practitioners to progress into registered practice, also providinge credits into some higher education programmes aligned to professional registration.
